ATBW welcomes applications to our first cohort of WARC School. Selected applicants will join a cohort of 15 individuals representing Black memory collecting institutions for a year-long training program in web archiving, beginning with a grounding orientation with in-person workshops, knowledge and skill building activities. Participants will receive a $5,000 stipend and covered expenses to participate in the in-person orientation.

We welcome applications from skilled instructors and experts in the field of web archives and Black studies to apply to facilitate WARC School Courses. This role may appeal to web archiving professionals looking to gain or enhance their teaching experience. Instructors will be required to attend the in-person orientation and teach a 4-week course on Zoom. Instructors are expected to develop their own course materials, with support from the ATBW Team. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in documenting Black life and culture through web archives or digital archives
  • Experience creating and/or managing web archiving programs or systems/tools
  • Experience with remote group facilitation or training
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • Organizational, interpersonal, analytical, written communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to operate computer and internet programs like Google Suite and Zoom
  • Experience with providing accommodations for different participants

Stipend: $6,500

We welcome graduate students, recent graduates, and new professionals to apply to TA at WARC School Course. This role may appeal to those with digital archives, digital humanities, and Black digital studies backgrounds; as well as those who are interested in or familiar with web archiving but unable to participate in the WARC Fellowship. TA’s are expected to be active participants in the course and WARC School Program.     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of principles of archives and digital preservation
  • Demonstrated interest in documenting Black life and culture through web archives or digital archives
  • Experience with remote group facilitation or training
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • Organizational, interpersonal, analytical, written communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to operate computer and internet programs like Google Suite and Zoom
  • Willingness to learn new tools and support participant success in acquiring new skills

Stipend:
$3,000
